The Maternal and Child Health Transportation pilot shuttle will be starting on July 2 and will run until September 20. This is a 12-week pilot program to provide free transportation once a week to medical appointments in Wooster for pregnant women and children 17 years old and younger in households with a total income at or below 250% of the federal poverty guidelines.
Rides can be scheduled 24 hours in advance, and during the same day if a last-minute medical trip is needed. Riders must apply for the program and provide proof of income.
The service is provided 8 hours one day a week and the hours are different each day of the week. Transportation providers for this program are Gilcrest Transportation and Precious Angels Transportation.
Service days and hours are:
Mondays- July, 2, July 30 and August 27- Hours are 1 to 7 p.m.
Tuesdays- July 10, August 7, Sept. 4- Hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Wednesdays- July 18, August 15, Sept. 12- Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Thursdays- July 26, August 23, Sept. 20- Hours are 1 to 7 p.m.
This is a pilot program funded by the Ohio Department of Health, and is operated in partnership with the Wayne County Health Department and Community Action Wayne/Medina Mobility Management Program.
